  • Taking on the Republican War on Women: As a husband and a father of two girls, Gary Peters is appalled by the Republican war on women and he’s fighting back. In Congress, he’s taken an active role to preserve funding for Planned Parenthood’s life saving work and recently helped them open a new office in Oakland County.   • Handed the GOP Speaker his first major defeat: Even though Democrats are in the minority, that didn’t stop Gary Peters from leading the successful fight to defeat Republican Speaker John Boehner when he tried to gut a program that created or saved 41,000 auto manufacturing jobs. Because the Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing loan program is credited with bringing production of the Ford Focus from Mexico to Wayne County, Peters united the Democratic Party to vote down GOP efforts to cut $1.5 billion from the program.
